Oh so close: Monty cards career best 60!

monty2.jpg

Colin Montgomerie's career-best round of 60 at the Indonesian Open proved to be in vain as Thailand's Thaworn Wiratchant won the title by five shots.

Montgomerie came within inches of a 59 but his 60 gave him an 18-under-par total of 262 including nine birdies in a row to share fourth place.

Montgomerie needed to win the tournament to return to the world's top 50 and automatically clinch a place at Augusta, but now he must rely on being invited.
