David Duval sniffs leaderboard - is he getting closer?

We've given him up for dead, but something tells me that somewhere deep inside there is a top notch player ready to make his comeback. We all know the talent is there, but the mental is missing.

ESPN's Ivan Maisel writes that our doubting Duval is just what he need to get the juices flowing. Come out, come out wherever you are...

"I don't want to do an interview," Duval said Thursday night, walking to his car in the Augusta National Golf Club parking lot. "I shot a 75. There's no story there. If I had shot a 69, it would be different."

Being out here is no longer enough. Duval has recommitted himself to the championship golf that he chased with single-minded ardor. [ESPN]
