Pope Benedict's VW Smashes Ebay Records

pope_vw.jpg

OK this isn't about golf, but it is about a "Golf". A 1999 Volkswagen Golf with 47,000 miles, in mint condition on sale at EBAY. What makes it special enough to have surpassed the $75,000 mark? It used to belong to the recently installed Pope Benedict XVI.

The car is offered on the auction site by 21 year old Benjamin Halbe who bought it in January from a used car dealer. He had no idea its previous owner, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, would become the Pope.

Ratzinger's private secretary bought it for him in 1999 in southern Germany. It was then taken to Ratzinger in Rome.

"It's a heavenly ride," Halbe said.

I've managed to save up roughly $30100 in my bank account, but I'm not sure if I should buy a house or not. Do you think the market is stable or do you think that home prices will decrease by a lot?
