Arjun Atwal becomes first Indian to compete in PGA Championship

At 7:15am this morning, Arjun Atwal, Asia's 2003 Order of Merit winner, became the first player from India to compete in the PGA Championship as this year's final major tournament began.

Arjun and Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee, Asia's 2004 number one, join South Koreans Hur Suk-ho, Yang Yong-eun and Choi Kyung-ju and Japan's Toru Taniguchi, Shingo Katayama and Shigeki Maruyama in bidding for Asia's first major title.

If one of these men could find a way to the top of the leaderboard on Sunday, it would mean a lot for golf and the PGA Tour's worldwide growth.
