I may be a goof, but I don't hit no girls...

You can call an American male a lot of things and get away with it, but accuse them of hitting girls and now you've got a problem.

John Daly is suing The Florida Times-Union and columnist Mike Freeman for statements made in a column last year calling Daly a "thug accused of smacking women around".

Freedom of the press is a beautiful thing, but many "journalist" get away with unfair, unjust, and exaggerated statements under the "columnist" umbrella... I doubt this will change things, but a nice settlement awarded Daly may help editors think twice about asking columnist to be more "provacative".
