SOD: The Cadillac Russian Open Sponsor Page

It wasn't so long ago that BogeyMan was BogeyBoy and terrified that the Soviet Union would end all of mankind with one press of a button. It was the capitalist vs. the communist and the cold war was at its' chilliest.

Just a few years later we can see which side won the cold war by visiting today's BogeyLounge Site of the Day - the sponsor page for the 2005 Cadillac Russian Open.

It does my sports marketing heart good to see Cadillac (a long standing symbol of all things capitalist), as the title sponsor for Russia's Golf Championship.

And what better way to take off some cold war chill than with your very own Robert Trent Jones Jr. golf course.

As a 10 year-old practicing the "hide under the desk in case of a bombing" drill, the last thing I could have imagined is that one day Cadillac, Coke, Rolex, Lipton, and Golf Digest would be part of Russia's pop culture landscape.

Just another example of how golf (and sports marketing) has made the world a better place. It's all good.
