Nike MaxSight performance enhancing lenses...

nike_maxsight_lenses.jpg

Back in April we wrote about a new contact lens produced by Nike and Bausch & Lomb that would assist athletes with sports specific optical enhancements.

The lenses are now available and already the positive reviews are coming in. There are lenses specifically for baseball-soccer-football (amber) and golf-running-training (grey-green).

I, for one, don't feel very comfortable wearing sunglasses while playing golf. So these babies may allow me to reduce glare and increase my ability to see contours (i.e. putting lines) without the bother of sunglasses.

Golfer Jerry Smith was one of the first patients in Denver to be fitted for the new sports lenses. He said he wanted to be able to see the greens of the golf course more clearly when he plays.

Smith said the lenses allow him to follow the ball better after he hits it. He also said that they have helped with his putting game.

"You can see the breaks, the contours, and you can see which way the green's sloping, and I think it could really help the putting," Smith said. "Fifteen yards from the green, I normally couldn't see the contours, but (with the lenses) they just pop out."

I completely agree. Sunglasses are annoying while golfing and these contact lenses could be the thing that finally does away with them. Also, you dont have to worry about sitting on them or losing a screw out of them.
