Earl Woods 1932-2006

We have spent a lot of time on this site celebrating the accomplishments of one of golf's special talents... Today, we observe the passing of the inspiration behind Tiger Woods' success.
"My dad was my best friend and greatest role model,'' Tiger Woods said in a statement on his Web site. "He was an amazing dad, coach, mentor, soldier, husband and friend. I wouldn't be where I am today without him.''
Earl Woods lost his long battle with cancer on Wednesday. He was 74.
Our deepest sympathies go out to Tiger and his family.

The death of Tiger's father reminds me why I never pass up an opportunity to play a round of golf with my dad. There are too few chances in the hectic world we live in to connect with those people that matter, and then one day there are none. Next time I tee it up with my Dad I'll do it in honour of all the parent child teams that can no longer play together.
