My Memorial Weekend Mini-Marathon Concludes

3 Courses + 3 different states + 63 holes = My Memorial Weekend. Now before people start complaining about how pathetically little golf that is and how they once played 96 holes in a day, carrying their bag, walking uphill the entire time while also preparing for an IRS audit, I would like to make it clear that I don't care. This is my mini-marathon and I am proud of it.
Actually, truth be told, I have played more golf in the same amount of time but this seemed particularly brutal. Perhaps it was playing in the first really hot days of the year, perhaps is was traveling 3 hrs each day to get to the courses, perhaps I am just horribly out of shape and need to suck it up?
The whole thing got me thinking about endurance and how it would theoretically be possible to play a round of golf in all 50 states in 50 days. In fact, with some of the states being so close together you might be able to do it in less time, although I do recommend timing the trip to avoid certain states in winter. I went looking for information on people that may have tried this caper but came up empty handed. There is a lovely couple who have played in all 50 states but they took 30 years to do it, and I found a guy who has played 1321 different courses, but no true iron hackers.
Trying to accomplish this feat might be a wonderful way to make money for a charity. ESPN and the Golf Channel would eat the whole thing up. If you could get a group of people do it you could even make it a tournament with stages like the Tour de France.
I am curious if anyone has heard of anything similar to this actually happening. I would love to give it a try but I fear that if 63 holes in 3 days exhausted me I might not make it through 900 in 50 days. Anyway, Happy Memorial Day to everyone.
