Trump National in Los Angeles opens with a whimper

Somehow the the words Donald Trump and "little fanfare" don't seem to mix very well. However, according to reports abound, the much ballyhooed Trump National Los Angeles with it's breathtaking views and nine figure budget is whimpering into play with as much fanfare as the latest Mizuno driver launch.
C'mon, are there really tee times open for the first day? Knowing what we do of the Don, someone's probably in trouble.

TPC at Sawgrass: an aquired taste...

Golf World's Ron Whitten writes that at first the pros didn't like the TPC at Sawgrass Stadium Course, but after many changes it's a hit—if not what Pete Dye had in mind.
"When I first saw the course 18 years ago, it was so intimidating," says Steve Elkington, who has won there twice. "It was a new style of golf, a new concept. So it took some time for guys to learn to like it. It's a great venue, because it's the most precise golf we have to play all year. You have to hit fairways and greens there. There's none of this hit-four-out-of-14-fairways-and-still- shoot-68 on that golf course."
Love it or hate it, this weekend at the TPC Sawgrass is sure to make for a great golf weekend.

The best golf holes in the world
In this week's FRONT NINE column on SI.com, author Scott Wraight gives us what he thinks are Golf's Best Nine Holes...
I have not had the pleasure of playing any of the courses on the list (my game's not worthy - yet), therefore I have no comment... But I wanted you guys to check it out and offer comments if you've had the pleasure...
Among courses that have hosted at least one PGA Tour event, the list was compiled using these factors (in no particular order): memorable moments/shots, difficulty, aesthetically pleasing, psychological strength and uniqueness of the hole.
Check it out: SI.com - The Best Golf Holes in the World (Scott Wraight)
