Golf Cart Makes Sudden Stops

I'm not sure I completely get this sticker, but regardless it appeals to me on some level.

Meet Shayna
BogeyMan's Note: We welcome Josh to the iLounge family and thank him for wasting his writing talents on our golf blog... By the looks of his first post, this may be a match made in heaven. We look forward to Josh helping us resurrect an old blog favortite.

I figure I'll start my innaugural post with BogeyLounge with a Golf Babe...sorta.
I stumbled across Shayna at the The Bachelor Guy's website and all I remember is the picture and this little bit of info:
"But when she's not on the beach, she loves to get out on the links and play some golf." So I figure it's applicable here.

Let the games begin! It's Opening Day...

Sure I'm a golf fan, but my first love will always be America's pastime.
And while the game has been tainted with steroids and diva players, it still holds a special place in my heart and the hearts of millions of fans around the world.
The real exciting thing is how easy it is to follow your favorite teams with today's emerging technologies - for instance, today I was able to use the remote of my DirecTV box to pull up live scores, stats, and multiple games on one screen. Features like that and a wide set of online offerings make baseball a different game from a fan's perspective than the one I followed when I was a kid.
(Cue the harp music and flashback transition)... When I was a kid (circa 1976) you woke up the morning after a late game and had to wait for the Baltimore Sun to arrive in order to see how your favorite Orioles did in the boxscores.
Do people even know how to read boxscores today?
Anyway, it's Opening Day and it should be a national holiday... Tomorrow I'll be ready to focus on the Masters, but today is reserved for Santana vs. Bedard, live from the Metrodome at 7pm.

Baltimore Named Fittest City?
So I start eating better for two days (just started a $300 a man weight loss bet with three other buddies) and my city gets named "America's Fittest City".
Was I really bringing my city's average that far down? :)
Anyway, me and three other golf buddies are competing to see who can lose the largest percentage of body weight from now until March 3 (two months). We could all stand to lose a few lb's, me in particular...
Perfect timing from the Sand Trap's Everardo Keeme with his post on the Titleist Performance Institute. If you are interested in fitness as it pertains to golf improvement, you should check it out.
Now, what should I do with the $900 smackers I'm gonna win on March 3? New irons? Golf weekend getaway? New golf wardrobe? Lessons? Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes...

Pope's old Golf sells for $244,000
I know this isn't technically about "golf", but since I posted about it earlier, I thought maybe some of you would want to know how the story turned out...
"A second-hand Volkswagen Golf once owned by Pope Benedict sold for 188,938 euros ($244,800) to a U.S. buyer in frenzied online bidding, a spokeswoman for eBay in Germany said on Thursday." [CNN.com]

Pope Benedict's VW Smashes Ebay Records

OK this isn't about golf, but it is about a "Golf". A 1999 Volkswagen Golf with 47,000 miles, in mint condition on sale at EBAY. What makes it special enough to have surpassed the $75,000 mark? It used to belong to the recently installed Pope Benedict XVI.
The car is offered on the auction site by 21 year old Benjamin Halbe who bought it in January from a used car dealer. He had no idea its previous owner, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, would become the Pope.
Ratzinger's private secretary bought it for him in 1999 in southern Germany. It was then taken to Ratzinger in Rome.
"It's a heavenly ride," Halbe said.

A slice of Summer in February...
So it's thirty degrees outside, and there is no chance for golf in the near future. You can watch the Malaysian Open or the Nissan Open on tv, but that might depress you even more. What's a golfer to do?
Visit SI.com and take a look see at this year's 2005 Swimsuit Edition, and when your done looking at the new, re-live years 1996 to 2004. At least for a few minutes, you'll feel that summer is just around the corner.
Read: Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit 2005
Also: Don't miss the body painting section that features the models wearing nothing but "painted on" sports jerseys of their favorite sports teams.
UPDATE: While we are at it, let me also point you to Maxim Magazine's 2005 Swimsuit section... It's not golf, but you know...
